FREMONT, CA: Cloud technology undoubtedly opens up a whole new dimension of business opportunities, including, data security and other advanced business-driving functionalities. IoT is the major contributor to the dramatic shift to cloud technology acquisition. The IoT, therefore, has seen terminals and organizations adopt cloud-based Terminal Operating System's (TOS) in a bid to address operational inefficiencies and increase overall efficiency.
The masses of Internet-enabled devices are accelerating cloud usage and have become an accidentally natural practice for all Internet users. Cloud technology is widespread in day-to-day operations and activities that lead to increased dependence as it continues to expand across all industries. Data processed in a TOS is predominantly non-sensitive as it consists primarily of EDI messages that deliver discharge as well as load orders and container transmission from shipping lines. The terminal operator, therefore, does not own any data entering or departing from the terminal other than its KPIs, which is of very little value to external stakeholders. When terminals face results that deviate significantly from their standards and goals, it is essential to understand that a forged cloud TOS is being implemented, as a result of poor decision-making.
Earlier insights from Real-Time Business Solutions (RBS) argued against the myth that clouds architecture weakens the security of a TOS and credited strict regulatory providers concerning data loss prevention. Indeed, as TOS becomes an increasingly important part of marine infrastructure, so does the cloud software, where data and information are held securely at one location to support them. Though this buzzword tends to be pitched at every opportunity by several TOS providers, almost all system infrastructures completely evade core cloud features and components. As a result, these TOS claiming to be cloud-based fosters a perception that undermines how powerful a true cloud TOS can manifest on a terminal.
A valid cloud-based TOS will provide higher revenues, lower spending, and the introduction of paramount security measures. It is time to see the difference.
