MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA: The pure-play open stack company Mirantis releases OpenStack installer—Mirantis OpenStack 6.0. The launch, which the firm claims to be an industry first enables the partners to design plug-ins for Fuel—the open stack deployment and management tool; which will install and run their products automatically. The installer is developed on the platform OpenStack Juno.
Mirantis OpenStack 6.0 brings together partners and customers for developing plug-ins allowing users to seamlessly add functionality in OpenStack and replace manual installation of additional software and drivers. It allows the users to leverage the latest innovation from the open source community in an intuitive, reliable and flexible manner with more control.
Fuel, an open source deployment and management tool for OpenStack developed by the community pioneering the platform extends support for a framework for creating of deployment plug-ins. This plug-ins assists the users in working effortlessly and reliably on their Fuel-managed OpenStack clouds. Mirantis OpenStack 6.0 is also compatible with VMware, including a reference architecture VMware vCenter Server and VMware NSX, and support for vSphere Datastore and Nova-Network VLAN Manager support for vCenter.
Fuel plug-ins that is shipping with Mirantis OpenStack 6.0 comprises of Load-Balancing-as-a Service with HAProxy, Virtual-Private-Network-as-a-Service, and NetApp and Red Hat’s GlusterFS as backend storage for Cinder. There is also a provision for customers and partners for building additional network, storage, operations and authentication plug-ins.

It can be downloaded and deployed on a data center as an on-demand Private Cloud-as-a-Service or combined for a hybrid cloud. Apart from the latest pluggable OpenStack installer, Mirantis OpenStack 6.0 comes with high availability functionality, high performance and scalability (up to 100 nodes).
