New Integration between Apptio and New Relic for Cloud Spend Optimization

By Cloud Computing Outlook | Tuesday, November 24, 2020

By joining hands with New Relic One, Apptio Cloudability removes the need for time-consuming and burdensome permissioning and installation of additional agents.

FREMONT, CA: Apptio, a Bellevue-based provider of technology business management (TBM) solutions, announced the integration of Apptio Cloudability with the cloud-based observability platform New Relic One. With this integration, users of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure will be able to leverage additional infrastructure performance metrics from New Relic One, such as memory and CPU usage, enabling Apptio Cloudability to provide up to 15 percent more savings in rightsizing recommendations for compute resources.

"The combination of Apptio Cloudability and New Relic One provides companies with a holistic view of their cloud and on-premises environments, allowing them to appropriately budget for cloud spending and identify areas of rightsizing and optimization," said Bill Staples, chief product officer at New Relic.

"We are pleased to introduce this integration with New Relic One, which allows us to provide our joint customers a continuous flow of resource-level cost optimization recommendations with an unparalleled level of precision," said Scott Chancellor, chief product and technology officer at Apptio. "By combining extraordinarily detailed financial and operational data, this integration empowers our customers to substantially reduce their cloud spend without sacrificing workload performance."

The speed and elasticity provided by cloud computing is advantageous for organizations, offering the degree of agility needed to respond to changing customer and market demands. However, the ease with which cloud services are scaled also results in substantial overspending. Integration with New Relic One by Apptio Cloudability offers deep performance measurements for virtual machines, allowing better insights, more accurate rightsizing recommendations, and greater cost savings opportunities.

By joining hands with New Relic One, Apptio Cloudability removes the need for time-consuming and burdensome permissioning and installation of additional agents. With the Apptio Cloudability platform, users can easily initiate a one-time configuration of their New Relic One account using their New Relic One account ID and query key. This integration supports multiple accounts for both AWS and Azure workloads within the organization and is now available to users worldwide.

The announcement of integration with New Relic is the latest in a series of integrations, including, most recently with Datadog, to offer rightsizing recommendations, as Apptio continues to help customers optimize cloud costs and resources to drive innovation.
