Step to 5 G: Viavi Launches Industry's First 10 Gbe Ethernet Microprobe

By Cloud Computing Outlook | Thursday, May 05, 2016

MILPITAS, CA: Viavi solutions (NASDAQ: VIAV), a provider of software and hardware platforms recently introduced the industry’s first 10 GbE Ethernet Microprobe in a small form-factor pluggable (SFP+) size. This accelerates the application-aware intelligence up to 10 times. The rise in capacity will eradicate the requirement for a separate intelligence solution. The same is clubbed into the company’s PacketPortal, a cloud based Ethernet monitoring platform.

The details of this 10 GbE Ethernet Microprobe will be illustrated by Viavi at Mobile World Congress, Hall 6, Booth 6I37 to be held between February 22-25, 2016.

With credits to network function virtualization (NFV), mobile networks are at a state of progress between 3G and 5G across the world. Telephone companies are in strong contest to provide the best of internet networking solutions. 100 Gpbs are emerging in market and advancing to the rapid use of 10 Gbps. Till now the SFP+ Ethernet probes limited to 1 Gbps creating a crunch in speed and challenges like blind traffic, multi box solution or complex system of probes.

Michael McCallen, Director of Product Line Management, Viavi Solutions said, “Embedding application-aware intelligence into the probe increases visibility, reduces operational complexity and further facilitates virtualization.”

The PacketPortal 10 GbE Ethernet Microprobe will have improved capacity despite the minute size and form with deployment flexibility. The same will transport 5G network which will aid real time distribution over networks assurance in both physical and virtual environments. To revert quality experience to end consumer the same will capable to troubleshoot individual network segments and network elements.

McCallen adds, “We are proud of our engineering achievement in packaging such powerful functionality into such a small footprint which allows it to be deployed anywhere in mobile backhaul, data center and business service networks.”
