Frame.io, the New-York based video review and collaboration platform, having more than a million customers, has raised $50 million in Series C funding to expand its investment in cloud-based video workflows.

FREMONT, CA: Frame.io was founded in 2014 by Emery Wells, the owner of a post-production company and technologist John Traver. Frame.io was created to solve the workflows challenges faced by the filmmakers in their daily lives.

The New-York-based video review and collaboration platform, having more than a million customers, has raised $50 million in Series C funding to expand its investment in cloud-based video workflows. The funding was led by Insight Partners, among other existing investors like Accel, FirstMark, Shasta Ventures, and SignalFire.

Insight Partners was represented by Itai Tsiddon, Co-founder of Lightricks- another media company looking to modernize its creation, which has recently launched a content creation apps for small businesses. After the funding, the total fund raised by Frame.io reached $82.2 million.

With the freshly raised capital, the company plans to double its product, design, and engineering teams from 40 people to 80, growing its total team from 110 to 240. It also plans to open an office and a showroom next year at L.A. and invest further in security, may develop some new products, and deliver the 'camera to cloud' initiative.

The Frame.io web platform was designed to integrate the customer's existing processes by integrating with Non-Linear Editing systems (NLE's) like Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid, Apple Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve Studio. Such integrations allow editors to upload their content to Frame.io, then organize and share their products both internally and with external clients.

"Frame.io is built for the business of creating videos. It brings all stakeholders together and gives them one cohesive platform where all the things they are working on and communication around those things can live in one place," says Emery Wells, the Co-founder, and CEO of Frame.io.

Since its inception, Frame.io has been adopted by a number of large customers, including Disney, NASA, BBC, BuzzFeed, TED, Adobe, Turner Broadcasting, Google, Udemy, and many more. Their service today starts from $19 million per month for an individual creator, $49 for a small team of three people, with the option to add more at $25 per seat per month. Apart from that, custom enterprise pricing is also available.

Frame.io claims that its customer base is 60 percent more efficient after adopting its solution, with 41 percent hitting their projects on or before the deadline and, 39 percent able to produce more videos per month.
